Rav Yaakov son of Rav Shaltiel in his response to the question about the burnt water of the non-Jews which is called aqua ardente, if it is permitted for rubbing or drinking.

Aqua ardente used for brandy by the Tosephot when it was introduced in the 12th century; by the time of the Shulchan Aruch it meant all liquors and today means Agave liquor (from the same plant as tequilla).

The bird does not have the confluence of tendons called the brokineck, which is sold with the head and if it is broken, the cow is kosher. The second bone is called the tibia and in Arabic [sic] genou, which is the cow is the eskinol , in which the tsomet hagidim of the chicken is found…..

What the text is referring to is that the lowest bone in the cow or camel where an ankle bone and part of the foot in man and chicken.  The confluence of tendons which is in the extended metacarpal in the cow, therefore does not exist in the chicken.  The confluence of tendons in the chicken is found in the shuk or tibia.

It is an excellent illustration of the weeping ear which allows millet and panis to be distinguish. The stems are covered with fine hairs.

The spiced wine called piment presents no problem of  "pagan wine" since it is adulterated with honey.

The Hebrew word  קפל  is written as a foreign word which could be doublon  (doublet).

And if either the omasum and abomasum are perforated the animal is treif…..  The omasum is called centipellio and the rumen is called the double layer. The omasum is connected to the rumen but each one has its own wall.
